Hi, I'm emily

Born and raised in upstate New York,
I now call Boston home. I've always been taking photos. The ability to capture a moment physically and permanently with 35mm was something I was drawn to early on. When it was time to go to college (the first time) I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Black and white film photography. Studying at Lesley University for a year and a half, I ultimately left school and got a job as a portrait photographer. After taking quite a long pause and re-set from the practice after doing it professionally for 3 years, I'm back and stronger than ever. I love everything about photographing, finding the light, editing the photos, the anticipation of the shot and waiting for the exact right moment. Although I'm new to navigating this career on my own, I'm ready to take it on. |
In my free time, I own a little Brick + Mortar shop called Make & Mend. There, we sell secondhand art and craft supplies making them more accessible and affordable. I also do embroidery, upcycling and hand stitching work which can be seen here. Just in case that's not enough, I teach embroidery classes and workshops regularly throughout the greater Boston area but mostly at Gather Here in Cambridge.
